LOS ANGELES, September 5, 2017””The Board of Directors of Self-Realization Fellowship, the international non-profit spiritual organization founded by Paramahansa Yogananda in 1920, has just announced the election of Swami Chidananda to the position of president of Self-Realization Fellowship/Yogoda Satsanga Society of India (SRF/YSS), effective immediately. He succeeds Sri Mrinalini Mata, who served in this position from January 2011 until her passing last month. His appointment was made by a unanimous vote of the SRF Board of Directors on Wednesday, August 30, 2017.
Born Christopher Bagley in Annapolis, Maryland in 1953, Swami Chidananda, whose name means “bliss (ananda) through the infinite Divine Consciousness (chit),” has been a monk of SRF for forty years, and a member of the SRF and YSS Boards of Directors for the last eight years.

Early life
[edit]Chidananda is the son of Admiral David H. Bagley, former commander-in-chief of US naval forces in Europe, and Charlotte Lee Bagley, née Hartwell.[6] As a teenager, Chidananda began to take an interest in yoga and the meaning of life.[7]
