    I was just visiting Calgary last week when I saw Licia Corbella’s last column as a full-time writer. I was so sad to read that. Licia saved my family. About 15 years ago, a pimp got a hold of my daughter, got her addicted to drugs and sold her like a piece of meat. She was just 13. I was desperate and I called the cops, who said they had to catch her in the act. I called social workers, too, and I got nowhere, but then I called Licia. She had just written about a new law that let the authorities arrest underage prostitutes and hold them without charge to get them away from their pimps. Licia came right over to our apartment. She started calling around on her cell phone and got the numbers of police and social workers who knew about the law and agreed to arrest my daughter if she came home. Luckily, my daughter did come home for a shower. As soon as my daughter stepped into the shower, Licia called the police and social workers and they took my daughter into custody. I was crying. I didn’t want my daughter to be arrested but Licia told me it was the best thing. She was so right. They held my daughter for about two wee
